Sanlorenzo to present Asia-inspired Collectors Lounge at Art Basel Hong Kong in March 2019

Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo has built a worldwide reputation for its innovative and bespoke yachts and superyachts, and has also become known for its forward thinking approaches. These include many partnerships with the worlds of art and design – an approach that was an industry first – including collaborations with internationally renowned names such as Dordoni Architetti, Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Piero Lissoni.

This visionary approach is the mastermind of Sanlorenzo Chairman, Massimo Perotti, who has spent many years cultivating relationships with industries that are complementary to the world of superyachts, thereby introducing new and creative concepts around onboard living.

Sanlorenzo’s strategy has included the appointment of Piero Lissoni as Art Director of Sanlorenzo, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the company. The yard has also engaged in several collaborations with important galleries and cultural institutions including Milan’s Triennale, Art Basel and Venice’s Biennale D’Arte.

Sanlorenzo has developed a particularly close relationship with Art Basel, the leading art fair for modern and contemporary art, and in the year of its 60th anniversary Sanlorenzo entered into a global partnership agreement with Art Basel. Art Basel events take place around the world throughout the year, in Hong Kong in March, in Basel in June and Miami Beach in December.

Having successfully exhibited in June and December 2018 in Basel and Miami, Sanlorenzo will now take part in Art Basel Hong Kong with an installation inside the Collectors lounge, designed by Piero Lissoni as a tribute to Chinese artist Alixe Fu. This choice is a significant bow towards Asian culture, with Sanlorenzo now widely present on the Asian market through Simpson Marine.
